Archival Survival

AS_fbArchival Survival. We’ve been recalibrating – trying to figure out the best way to move forward. A lot of things are still up in the air for us, but one thing is certain: we want to preserve objects collected from performances that have occurred at Defibrillator since our inception in 2010. But we need some help. It’s been a struggle for us to maintain this large and unique collection of ephemera, so we’re reaching out for your support. Of course, we’re grateful for whatever you can manage, but consider a small recurring monthly donation that would help us pay for storage rental. It would mean the world to us and the multitude of artists included in our archive. Click the link below to make a contribution.

Just before the pandemic, in February 2020, we presented a month-long exhibition called What Remains: On the Sacred, the Lost, and the Forgotten Relics of Live Art – a project revolving around our object archive curated by ieke Trinks. Now, two years later, we want to pick up where we left off – devoting time and attention to our exceptional collection.

Last year DFBRL8R was a proud recipient of the Hyde Park Art Center Artists Run Chicago Fund, allowing us to stay afloat during this trying time. We’re also grateful and proud to still be part of Zhou B Art Center in the wonderful Bridgeport neighborhood. We’re slowly getting back up and running and we intend to have an event in February. Please keep an eye on your inbox (or our social media) so you don’t miss what we’re cooking up!
